Singapore Airlines extends Dubai flight cancellations until August 2
Weekly regional flights sharply reduced since February conflict
DUBAI – The Singapore International Airlines has extended the cancellation of its Dubai services until August 2, 2026, citing the continuing geopolitical situation in the Middle East and growing disruption to regional air travel.
The move affects daily services between Singapore and Dubai and comes as airlines across the region continue to adjust operations amid ongoing instability in West Asia.
The airline confirmed that flight SQ494 departing Singapore for Dubai and SQ495 departing Dubai for Singapore will remain suspended until at least August 2. The carrier had previously announced cancellations for the same route until May 31.
Singapore Airlines said the situation remains “fluid” and warned that additional services could also be impacted depending on developments in the region. Customers have been advised to check the airline’s flight status portal regularly for updated information.
Refund options
Passengers affected by the cancellations can request a full refund for the unused portion of their tickets. Travellers who booked directly with Singapore Airlines may submit requests through the airline’s assistance form, while those who purchased tickets through travel agents or partner airlines have been asked to contact their original booking provider.
The airline also said impacted customers may be rebooked onto alternative flights where available.
Singapore Airlines urged travellers to update their contact information through the “Manage Booking” feature on its website or subscribe to mobile notifications to receive real-time flight updates and operational alerts.
Flights disruption
In a written parliamentary reply on Wednesday, Singapore’s Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow said the number of weekly flights operating between Singapore and key Middle Eastern cities has dropped significantly since the conflict began in February.
According to the minister, there are currently only 55 weekly flights connecting Singapore with Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai and Jeddah, compared with 154 weekly flights before the conflict started.
Singapore Airlines apologised to affected passengers for the inconvenience caused as uncertainty continues to affect aviation operations across the region.
